Travel reviews for Ayothaya Riverside Hotel
Date of stay: Apr 12, 2012
Accommodation and facilities:
This hotel is a real dump. Room was extremely dirty, carpet soiled, cigarette burns in the carpet, big burn on the carpet from an iron, an old dumpy room with poor lighting. I would not stay in this hotel again if it were free. I d asked for a quiet room but even in the area my room was located, I couldn t sleep due to the constant noise. The WiFi in the room, which isn t free, rarely worked or was so slow it rendered using your laptop as an exercise in futility. I wouldn t recommend anyone stay at this hotel.
Reservation service:
As usual, Sawadee has excellent booking service and I will always use their service in Thailand.

Accommodation and facilities:
no surprises, safe, almost clean, comfy stay. just one night, as a stopover, been there couple times but never stayed overnight. was planning on longer stay, but nothing in town interested me, nice for 1st time tourist. i self drive, so location not a problem, but is not in main area, and very limited food in area. breakfast was fine. eggs cooked fresh, pot/ham/hotday were cold as expected. toast / coffee / tea were self serve and also had veggies for a salad, nice added touch. few choices for breakfast. didn t use restaurants besides breakfast. on the river, but unless in higher room, no view, and not much of a view anyway. there i a riverside restaurant, i checked out, seemed a bit higher priced, but can t comment if worth the extra, as didn t sample.

The staff at this hotel were exceptional. They have good English, are very friendly, and went out of their way to assist our group with anything we needed. They arranged a boat around the rivers and canals, and a taxi for the rest of the sightseeing.

Online booking service was handled with ease. Quick response and no troubles on arrival at the hotel.

ATTRACTION
Ayutthaya :
The ancient city of Ayutthaya, formally designated Phra Nakhon
Si Ayutthaya was the Thai capital city for 417 years ago, and is one
of Thailand's major tourist attractions.
Ayutthaya province is relatively small at 2,557 sq.km. and is easily
accessible due to good road, rail and river connections and its
proximity to Bangkok, Straddling the Chao Phraya River, the nation's
principal waterway, the province is extremely important, as it was
the Siamese capital for four centuries. The city of Ayutthaya is 76
km. north of Bangkok and boasts numerous magnificent ruins from its
days as the capital. Just to the south, in perfect condition, stands
the royal palace of Bang Pa-In set in splendid gardens. The province
is also noted for H.M. the Queen's Bang Sai Arts and Crafts Centre.
Many ancient ruins and art works can be seen in a city that was
founded in 1350 by King U-Thong when the Thais were forced
southwards by northern neighbors. During the period when Ayutthaya
was capital, 33 kings and several dynasties ruled the kingdom, until
the glittering city was sacked by the Burmese in 1767, ruined and
abandoned. |
| |
| The extensive ruins and the historical records
demonstrate that Ayutthaya was one of Southeast Asia's most
prosperous cities. In recognition of its historical and cultural
importance, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Historical Park, the location
of the ruins adjacent to today's city, was declared a
UNESCO'S World Heritage site in 1991. |
