ACCOMMODATION



The design of our suites and villas is a visual journey through the history of the Lanna region, from the glory of northern Thailand to the influences of neighboring Myanmar, China and Laos and the introduction of colonial architecture. We offer our guests the choice of private two-floor villas, colonial-style suites or the grandeur of our Residences. All of our spacious suites and villas have separate sitting areas and generously proportioned bathrooms and some villas feature private outdoor plunge pools. Throughout our resort, we offer an atmosphere of culture and calm, with the display of beautiful artifacts from our private collection amidst the welcome shroud of lush tropical greenery.


SUITE ROOM

Colonial Suite

Each has a living room decorated in style featuring beautifully tiled floors, glass chandeliers and Victorian lantern desk lamps. The large bathrooms have a whirlpool tub and separate shower. Floor to ceiling terrace doors lead through to your verandah overlooking a lake and gardens. The soft whirr of ceiling fans and fine sheer keep the rooms cool. Select a King or Twin bedded suite.

Deluxe Colonial Suite

Our Deluxe Suites are larger than the Colonial suites with a wide entrance hall leading into a spacious sitting room. Low white paneling is matched with ochre walls, giving a fresh and elegant ambience, typical of the era. Enjoy the views of the landscaped gardens from your chaise longue or retire to the verandah with an E M Forster novel and entirely relive the period. In the bedrooms the high ceilings amplify the spaciousness and in turn they lead onto your generously proportioned bathroom which includes a walk-in closet and dressing area.

VILLA

Villa

These authentic Northern Thai rice barns were actually imported complete from the countryside. They encircle a delightful Thai cottage garden to recreate the true atmosphere of rural village life. Set over two storey's the ground floor living area is a creative blend of rustic textures; bamboos, silks and hill tribe textiles. Upstairs the atmosphere is full of character, with crafted wooden beams fixed with dovetail joints and old style sliding shutters. The bedroom has a king size bed and inviting bathroom with polished teak surrounding the peanut shaped spa bath.

Deluxe Villa

Each of our villas will exceed your expectations in living space. In your private Thai house you have a downstairs living area off which is a powder room. Upstairs the high-ceiling bedrooms offer king or twin beds. White muslin draped over canopies sweeps onto the polished teak floors. If you remove your shoes as traditional in Thailand you will find the natural wood soft under the bare soles of your feet. The design of the villas draws you outside, be it onto the terrace, to the deck, the massage area or sala. These typical Thai seating areas are overlooking the tropical gardens. Cushion covers in vintage Lao textiles add to the beauty of the setting.

Deluxe Villa with Outdoor Jacuzzi

Relaxation is the soul of these Deluxe Villas. Each has its private outdoor Jacuzzi. From your terrace enjoy serene green views over your garden or the paddy fields or dissolve muscle stress with a private treatment in your outdoor massage area. Overall this Villa is much larger in size, and your entirely private home set over two floors has been created without reserve as an ideal hideaway. The interiors display selected pieces from our collection of antiques that play a critical role in the preservation of Lanna history. If you are musical you will be surprised and pleased to have your own piano. Alternatively you may prefer to invite some of our artists for a private performance; we offer many talents including traditional Thai dance and music.

Each evening you can meander through our 'city' and choose a new dining experience. We offer marvelous settings inspired by the history of Lanna and cuisine that has gained both an international and highly valued local reputation.

Le Grand Lanna is a renowned Chiang Mai establishment for authentic Thai cuisine; our Mediterranean restaurant is such a delight and nowhere creates dim sum delicacies as we do in Fujian.

During the day there is always a soothing view, a shady terrace and poolside service. Below we have detailed our dining options but the choice is only limited by your imagination. We are delighted to create private dining to your personal brief, from a torch lit barbecue in your villa to a candlelit dinner amidst the paddy fields.
 
Fujian
Serving authentic regional Chinese cuisine in an elegant 1930s Shanghai mansion. Set over two floors with a spacious veranda overlooking the traditional Kad Dhara Shopping Village and private dining available for 2 to 50 guests. Fujian has a rich atmosphere decorated in a prosperous style with many rare pieces from our art and antiques collection. The cuisine also meets the finest tastes.

Throughout Chiang Mai we are renowned for our lunchtime dim sum, fragrant delicacies presented in bamboo steamers. The evening menu lists a variety of Chinese regional cooking styles from classic Cantonese to the more spicy cuisine from Sichuan province with many contemporary innovations. In keeping with the Chinese 'family style' meal, portions are served individually on the finest bone china.

Fujian takes its name from the prosperous Chinese province which is famous for its black tea. Our diners are invited to enjoy a 'tea tasting' during their meal, comprised of some of the best teas from Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi's extensive tea collection.

Le Grand Lanna
We welcome you to the fine experience of dining in a Lanna nobleman's home. We have created a traditional setting to showcase classic Thai and northern Lanna style cuisine.

Beneath the sweep of rain trees, guests dine overlooking a mature tropical garden bursting with crested hibiscus, palms, orchids and pungent jasmine. Choose our terrace, cooled by mist-spraying fans or our air-conditioned salons decorated with art and antiques from around the region. Private dining is available for up to 30 guests.

Each evening members of our cultural team give an hour performance of music and traditional dance. Le Grand Lanna has a distinguished reputation amongst discerning locals for which we are proud.

Akaligo
Views are across our landscaped gardens, from where the hum of cicadas rises up to fill the evening. The interior is chic and cool.

Two essential ingredients of the Mediterranean are available here on our Akaligo terrace. We recreate the flavours of the sun drenched coasts of southern Europe but with some local twists, care of our imaginative chefs.

Our famous Sunday Jazz Brunch embraces a sumptuous array of exotic dishes and live food stations accompanied by live Jazz.

Rice Terrace
The inspiring views of our rice paddies set the scene for a delicious and healthy way to start your day.

Relaxing and rejuvenating, Rice Terrace is the perfect place to savour our unique Spa Breakfast. Each morning, we welcome you with healthy and organic breakfast choices, including gluten-free breads and muffins. Plus, you can choose from an array of herbal teas, freshly squeezed fruit juices, or specially mixed 'detox' infusions.

Rice Terrace will be closed until November 2008.

Loy Kham Bar
Just steps away from our Villas and Residences, Loy Kham Bar is a welcome retreat. Located next to our dazzling Infinity-edge swimming pool, the bar is spread over two floors in its own beautiful wooden building. Guests can enjoy alfresco dining and extensive views of the lush green rice paddies surrounding our resort, or cool off in the shady indoor seating area.

The extensive menu includes snacks, salads, sandwiches, Asian noodles, and Thai favorites as well as international selections. Also on hand is a huge variety of refreshing drinks, including freshly squeezed fruit juices, healthy smoothies, tropical cocktails and mock tails, exotic teas, coffees, and more.

Colonial Pool Bar
Nestled alongside our elegant Colonial Suites and our dramatic, blue-and-white-tiled, Olympic-sized swimming pool, the Colonial Pool Bar offers welcome respite from the tropical heat. Created with relaxation in mind, the bar offers al fresco dining at shaded tables, poolside benches or any of our luxurious daybeds.

The far-ranging menu includes Thai and international favourites, delicious salads and sandwiches, fresh tropical fruits and Asian noodles. Also available is an array of refreshing cocktails, mocktails, smoothies, fruit juices and teas. For those really hot days, you can even get an ice-cold mint-infused towel here.

Horn Bar
Even this cool space to chill out with evening cocktails offers an element of culture. It is named for its unique horned mask collection frequently used in Thai dramas and dance.

Each wall displays masks from many different regions of Myanmar. They depict mythological characters from the Demons of Dansai to Hanumaru, the heroic ape, frequently dramatized in the Thai mask dance called "Ramayana"

Cool club sounds, stylish seating and an excellent mixologist are the real essence of this space.

The Oriental Shop
The Oriental Shop is a pretty one-storey Victorian Tea House framed by green palms, with music from whistling song birds.

For anyone who enjoys quality confectionary this is a delicious treat with a menu of classic sweets and bakery items to rival any European cafe. Enjoy chocolate or coffee-flavored pastries such as Opera and Tiramisu, pale pink and green melt in your mouth macaroons and crunchy chocolate mousse cakes such as the Tendresse. There is also a variety of hot and cold beverages and myriad flavours of homemade ice cream.

Located within the resort's Kad Dhara Shopping Village with cane seating both inside and outside.

:: Ballrooms ::
Jum Thong Hall is Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi's elegant Grand Ballroom and function space. The Hall's imposing architecture and soaring roofline capture the refined character of royal Thai architecture of the past. The striking white Naga staircase at the entrance ushers guests into a dramatic scene. The magnificent interior is decorated with rich carpet, silk wall coverings and elaborate chandeliers. Each wall is punctuated with a series of doors allowing daylight and fresh air to flood the room. An enclosed courtyard with private entrance is perfect for welcoming guests with cocktails. Jum Thong Hall is an ideal venue for parties and banquets on a grand scale. The space can accommodate up to 500 for receptions and 400 for banquets.
 
Jum Ngern Hall is Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi's Junior Ballroom, suitable for functions from 50 to 140 persons. Inspired by traditional Chiang Mai architecture, the tiered roofline is surmounted by a golden bell-shaped dome. Fine woodcarving and stucco work on the facade heighten the beauty of this extraordinary building. The interior is decorated in classic style with high ceilings, luxurious silk-padded walls, plush pale-yellow carpet and European-style moldings. This space is ideal for small to medium size banquet functions, meetings and conferences. Located across the courtyard from the Grand Ballroom you may wish to combine these spaces for a special event.
 
Jum Ngern 1 & Jum Ngern 2 - These two rooms can accommodate small meetings of 10-12 persons. They can be set up as formal conference rooms or as a more informal atmosphere with soft furnishings. We can also arrange them for private dining up to 12 guests, with menus created from any of our restaurants. Adjoining Jum Ngern Hall they can also be used for break-out sessions or as preparation areas for your main event.
 
:: Pavilion & Pond ::

Sala Jum Ngern is a roofed, open-air pavilion in the Thai style, located on the upper level of Jum Ngern Hall. This intimate space is decorated with fine woodcarving and colourful antique floor tiles. The elegant but informal open air location is suitable for cocktail receptions. Alternatively the open air location offers an ideal space for coffee breaks in a long conference day.

Bua Kham Pond sits at the heart of the property's Le Grand Lanna Restaurant. Named for the golden lotuses which adorn the decorative pond, this elegant outdoor venue surrounded by lush foliage, is a beautiful setting for both cocktail receptions and gala dinners with a touch of Lanna style. Traditional northern Thai dance and music may be arranged to accompany your special event.

Khong Khao Lawn offers one of Thailand's most spectacular outdoor venues for corporate or special events. The backdrop is one of architectural beauty, with our Prayer Hall and the roofline of the Le Grand Lanna Restaurant. Surrounded by towering rain and flame of the forest trees, Khong Khao lawn can create an atmospheric location for either intimate affairs or banquet events. The magic of Lanna art and culture comes to life on Khong Khao Lawn, with northern Thai dance and music and state-of-the-art light and sound system. Finish off the evening with a breathtaking display of fireworks or release lanterns into the night sky for good luck in the age-old Lanna tradition.

The brick amphitheatre is surrounded by a moat and towering trees, it is quite simply a magical spot. Candlelit concerts, folk dances, opera, and Thai shadow puppets are just some of the many special events which can be arranged here.

The Dheva Spa is named after the Star Goddess, guardian of longevity and spiritual enlightenment.
Dheva, pronounced 'day-va', is the Sanskrit word for celestial beings that inhabit the heavenly realm. Dhevas led a blissful existence, blessed with the benefit of a powerful karmic rebirth.

The Dheva Spa at Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi is a destination spa in itself with 3,100 square metres dedicated to relaxation and well being. Modeled on the Burmese royal palace that stood near Mandalay in Myanmar, the spa lobby is located at its centre with an impressive seven-tier roof symbolizing the seven steps to heaven, or nirvana.

Situated in a cluster of teak buildings, next to the resort's Villa Lobby it comprises 19 treatment rooms and suites. All treatment suites have been created to ensure a truly indulgent experience that can be enjoyed alone or together. Each suite has a private Jacuzzi, steam shower, heated marble scrub marble and private treatment and relaxation area.

The Dheva Spa prides itself on the broad range of therapies and spacious treatment rooms and suites. The Dheva Spa and Wellness Centre is the soul of our resort. We offer a highly professional healing experience in the most beautiful surroundings. The spa structures are inspired by a 19th century Mandalay palace with 18 treatment suites and rooms, a glorious Heat and Aqua facility and a leading Ayurvedic centre.

Yoga & Pilates
We offer a comprehensive range of Yoga and mat Pilates classes under highly qualified guidance. Guests may enjoy morning sun salutations or join classes in Hatha Yoga, Yoga for children or more advanced Yoga sessions. We offer complimentary sessions throughout the day or one to one private sessions.

Swimming Pool
We have two swimming pools. The Loy Kham infinity Pool has views stretching over the languid green paddy fields. Charmingly designed you can swim beneath the boughs of a rain tree and step out onto stone lily pads. The blue tiled Colonial Pool recreates the elegance of an era specifically the style of the 1920s Riviera. It is very large, with space for laps and a shallow pool for children. Both pools are created as relaxing spaces with the all-day bars serving light snacks, juices and cocktails.

Fitness & Sauna
Our high tech fitness centre is open from 6:30am-9pm. Guests are provided with a locker and drinking water. Personal trainers are available for one to one sessions by the hour or longer term fitness regimes. We also offer complimentary use of the sauna.

Tennis
We have two astrograss flood lit tennis courts which are open from 7am to 8pm. Rackets and balls are available for hire. Our professional coach is available for lessons.

Oriental Culinary Academy
Our Oriental Culinary Academy is equipped for classes of up to 20 students. There is a daily rotation of classes (except Sunday) that include informative trips to the local market and preparation of a four course meal.

Culture Centre
Our art and craft village, Ban Sam Lang, offers highly informative exploration of the ancient Lanna culture including hands on craft demonstrations, a variety of lectures and an enlightening tour. Dedicated to the preservation of the Lanna culture each month they perform a traditional ceremony.

Shopping
If shopping is your leisure activity we have our own village, Kad Dhara, with over 20 shops including jewellers, a tailor and artisans offering high quality craft and art for sale.
