Travel reviews for Phuttachot Resort
Date of stay: Feb 13, 2011
Accommodation and facilities:
Hmmm...not great! It was the price I wanted to pay but I ve stayed in other hotels for the same or less and had a better quality. A lot of the cleanliness/service issues should have been fixed.
It s fine as a basic budget hotel but not if you are looking for comfort or a nice hotel experience. There s no real service there or hotel facilities - no lounge/nice area to sit, room facilities, wifi etc... It s just basic beds and bathrooms.
Generally I don t agree with having to pay full price up front for substandard quality/service. And the payment turned out to be non refundable when we found that we had to check out early to make our plane in time.
We had two rooms and varying experiences:
My friend s room:
- The bed sheet had several cigarette burn holes right where her head would be! That s just not even trying to create a good impression.
- The reception didn t have a copy of her room key so she couldn t get her room cleaned as we could never know when we would be back and the reception closes at about 10pm.
- My friend developed a stomach bug during the holiday and she needed a cup or glass to mix a drink. There were no glasses in the room or around the hotel and when the receptionist finally found a glass, she gave it to my friend without even washing it!! It still had the remains of someone’s fruit juice in it! OMG!
My room:
- On arrival I had no water in my fridge (whereas my friend had some) and when I asked for it to be provided it wasn t, so I had to go myself and ask to take some bottles myself from the stack in the reception.
- My standing lamp has no light bulbs in it which were never replaced. A shame as it would have looked nicer with the lamp working.
- I put up with a cold shower for the 1st 2 days as it wasn t clear how to switch it on (only a sticker in Thai) and it took 2 attempts with the receptionist to get her to understand and then come to my room and show me what to do.
- When I got my room cleaned the towels weren t replaced, so when I wanted a shower at night I had to use the floor mat as a towel until reception opened!
- Sometimes I was given small white towels and another time I had nice big blue bath towels…all a bit hit and miss.
- The beds are really unnaturally hard - and we didn t have this experience in two other hotels so I don t think this is a Thai thing.
General ambience:
- Two old mouldy matresses were hanging around on the famous staircase all the time we were there which makes you wonder what you are sleeping on!
- The receptionist couldn t speak much English and seemed to be there on her own so trying to explain things to her involved drawing diagrams. I really think they should fix this and get someone who can speak to tourists. She also didn’t seem to have much authority to make decisions or help with problems.
- No attempt to create a nice entrance or garden with the land surrounding the hotel so it all seems to be built on a bit of scrap land and there’s a lot of rubbish hanging around.
- The waste water thing - true it only lasts a few mins to walk past it on your way to town, and it is landscaped nicely, but the smell is DISGUSTING and not what you want when you are on your way to breakfast or coming back after a late night. Or if you feel ill with a holiday bug.
- I think all that stagnant water nearby is not good for attracting mosquitos too and I got bitten alive there depsite using all the deterrents known to man.
- If you look around at the back of the hotel there are some people living in some really tumbledown huts right next door, shielded by the vegetation, so I don t know how secure this is.
Good things about it:
- price
- aircon
- balcony
- nice looking solid wood furniture (but no bedside tables)
- cleaner and receptionist were nice
- free luggage collection to and from the pier
- location - convenient for the viewpoint and the bays and town - but not an attractive location or good part of town. Not where you want to walk alone late at night.
Reservation service:
The service was good and staff very friendly, although they often took a long time to reply to emails.
Generally I don t agree with having to pay full price in advance for hotels we have not seen. Most reputable hotels only ask for a deposit to book - not the whole price.

Accommodation and facilities:
Far too expensive for the quality offered. No safe; paper-thin walls; no pool or other amenities.
A plus: No noise from outside as far from the bars ...
Reservation service:
good

Accommodation and facilities:
Ok rooms for the low price. However a bit more worn down than usually at that price range (broken window, signs of brake- in in both rooms). No soap in one room. The evening receptionist didn’t understand any English, the other staff really poor English. Early checkout (10:00), late checkout not possible for us.
